Every so often I do an outfit post on the blog here, usually featuring a dress. And that’s it and it’s never mentioned again. The truth of the matter is that I wear dresses….a lot. Like 5 days out of 7. Maybe 6. If you know me in real, live, actual life then you know this already, but I feel it needs to be mentioned.
I’m from (and still live in) a
small smaller tiny miniscule town. The problem with living in a repressively rural area is that anytime one wears a dress or skirt, people think you’re dressed up to go somewhere. Like a funeral. Or an appointment with your divorce lawyer, who knows. But you’re viewed with a certain level of suspicion. Seriously. Once I realized I didn’t give a flying font what other people thought about the way I dressed, I started to have more fun with my wardrobe. Dresses are my personal favorite and the past 3 years or so have been spent slowly building up a closet full of them. Trousers be damned.
Now I don’t care if you wear pajamas, or jeans, or footie jammies, or ball gowns. Do your thang, girl. But if you’ve only ever thought dresses were Sunday-goin’-to-meetin’ clothes, I’m here to tell you otherwise.
5 Reasons I Wear Dresses all the Time
1.) Instant outfit. Can’t figure out what to wear? It takes 2.8 seconds to pick out a dress and fling it over your head. Done.
2.) Hot weather is my bitch. A dress = instant ventilation, people.
3.) If I so much as look longingly at a potato chip I will look like a pufferfish the next day. Too much salt makes me bloat, which makes wearing jeans about as much fun as getting your boob caught in a blender. A looser-fitting dress always saves the day.
4. I am a very big fan of overdressing for every occasion.
5.) I look ma-highty fine. That’s it. That’s all there is to this last one. Wearing dresses (and heels) gives me confidence. Big hair also gives me confidence. I don’t know why, but if I am feeling low teasing my hair to Dolly Parton-esque heights always helps.
There you have it. 5 reasons. Because I couldn’t think of 6.
See you later!
P.S. I often post crappy taken-in-front-of-the-mirror outfit pictures (like some of the pics above) and post them on my tumblr. Check it out if ya like.
