A Finished Bedroom – Baseboards, Bedknobs, and Angela Lansbury

This weekend was productive! I did a little bit of tweaking on the blog (I am DETERMINED to figure out this HTML stuff. DETERMINED, I say!) and we did some work on the house.

The bedroom be finished. Baseboards and all! Here’s the official Before and After:

Huge difference. I could not be more pleased with how everything turned out! A few nail holes need to be patched on the baseboards, and that is it. Done.

Last week I talked about antique iron beds and this was the bed I chose to get that look – the Manila. Even though the reviews were good, I was a bit nervous after the order was placed. The price is really low, is it going to be flimsy? What if the paint looks crappy? What if it swallows me whole like Uncle Fester’s bed in ‘The Addams Family?’

As per usual, I needn’t have worried. The bed is heavier than anticipated and the overall quality is pretty damn good.

The only peeve I have with it is that the mattress is a pretty tight fit. I have to cram the sheets and blankets between the end of the mattress and the footboard every damn day when I make the bed.

The fist thing I said once the bed was put together? ‘I’M GONNA CALL ANGELA LANSBURY AND WE’RE GONNA HAVE A BITCHIN’ TIME!’

My husband didn’t get it, because he’s never seen ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks,’ the heathen.

See you later!

  1. How lovely and so glad your worries of the bed collapsing were not justified. You must be enjoying your new bedroom. Now what did you do with your wooden bed? And where do you keep the broomsticks?
